All About Ian Walker

Postby Ian Walker » Sun Dec 30, 2007 9:33 am

Hello - I am Ian and I am an alcoholic!

Ooops - wrong Forum! :)

I am Ian and I used Dataease way back 1987 thru 1991 (ish) - for pretty much most of the databasing needs we had on large scale construction and civil engineering projects. Back then I worked for John Laing Plc. Prior to that I had been a dBaseIII and Clipper applications developer with Freightliner Ltd.

Moving forwards 16years I am now Director of Snowdonia Technology Limited - a business I have developed to take technology back to the end user - in my view we should be making technologies work for business - not the other way round and thus I agree with Trina/Pete's idea that databasing should be in the hands of the end user. When technologies dictate what the user does it is akin to the tail wagging the dog!

Thus - long live Ffenics - a database product that - finally - enables the dog to wag the tail!
