My local councillor

Postby Adrian Jones » Wed Feb 27, 2013 2:16 pm

If you're interested, my local councillor, who I will be challenging in May elections, assuming he does not quit before hand, is making headline news about comments he made, and will shortly be on Radio Cornwall:

and

Amongst just about every other bit of UK media.

What a moron. You don't "put the disabled kids down". You put them into the workhouses right next to the rest of the kids and beat them all on a regular basis. That's probably what he meant to say but was trying to be kind. To bad he wasn't born back in the early 1800's, he would have done great things.

He sounds and looks like a wacko.

How long was he in office and what does a councillor do?

He was there for 27 years!

I vaguely know him. Other people I've spoken to in the past few days have been in praise of him, though they all recognise he is right to have resigned.

A councillor is an elected representative on a county or city council, and the council provides a range of local services, from refuse collection to children's services (where Lynette works).

Cornwall has a population of c530K, and the council has a budget of a £1.2 billion, and we curently have 123 councillors.

We have elections in two months, and I will be standing in his ward.

Rather than just standing there, why not run for office?
