ShopEase/DataEase V7 Error Please Help

Postby MikeBSS » Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:24 am

Hi,
I had to change the power supply in my computer last night and this morning I've found my program isn't working.
It opens, and lets me log in, however when I click "start" it locks me out by saying;

__________
Exiting Due To Exception: Access Violation

Instruction Pointer:0x004A1F6E
Stack Pointer: 0x0012D460

UI Build: 2099
PRISM Build: 289

Windows Version: Windows 2000
__________

I really hope someone can help me fix this as I don't have a back up of my database (yes I realise this is my own stupid fault)
If anyone can help you can e-mail me at;
Mike@broadstreetstudio.co.uk

Thank you everyone.
Mike

Not sure what one thing could have with the other because DataEase does not run on batteries. (sorry, couldn't resist)

First off, you don't need to have the program running to do a backup. Just copy the database directory to a flash drive or CD or something.

An access violation usually means that a file or files will not open. Did your computer crash prior to this happening?

Have you tried reinstalling DataEase?

This is a past client of ours (supplied in 2006) He has never paid us for on going support and put the phone down on me this morning when I quoted him for an on-site visit.

Graham, thank you so much for the advice on backing up the system, I'll give that a go.
The computer may have crashed, there was a bit of a storm here but as I wasn't in the shop at the time it's hard for me to say.
I'll take a look at backing up the database and going from there.

John, That's a little harsh. I didn't hang up on you. I was just extremely shocked at how much you were asking for a call out and said I'd get back to you if I was interested.
Please don't make me out to be the bad guy. I'm afraid, unlike some of your customers, I can't afford £300 for the first hour of a call out. I run a very small business and that's a LOT of money to me.
I'm sorry if I seemed rude, but to me, that's just an unreasonable amount.

Mike
