logon crash

Postby Stewart Allen » Thu Nov 17, 2011 2:18 pm

Hi

Windows 2003 Server 32bit, DE 6.52

For some unknown reason on an app that has been running for more than 12 years an error occurred today that now totally prevents any logon attempt.
Designer & user access results in an immediate fatal exception after entering credentials in the logon dilalogue.
We may have to revert to a backup, but i am hoping someone can give some pointers on how to resolve this before we go there.

Process explorer log errors shown for Dataease.EXE just before the fatal exception.

Just out of curiosity, can you copy the database to a workstation? It almost sounds as if there are some exclusive locks on critical files.

was due to corruption of the config dbm and some other files that were fortunately recoverable without data loss.

.... fortunately they are replacing that server
