Extract Seems to Hang

Postby Adrian Jones » Tue May 29, 2012 10:05 am

Hi All,

Am trying to run extract on a DOS 5 app. The screen result gets as far as "Scanning -- Reports Directory" and then seems to stop.

the file Reports1.TMP, which I guess it is extracting to in this part of the routine, has a truncated last entry. It has the name of a proc, the DBR, and then the word 'FULL', but then nothing.

Any suggestions as to what to do?

Thanks!

which version??? There were at least 2 different versions for DFD 5

edited to add, 3 versions.. 5.0, 5.20, 5.21.. I believe the latter versions corrected a stalling process in creating the TMP files upon error..

Thanks -- 5.0.

I found that there was a proc that referenced a non-existent form. Deleting that proc has moved it on through that part of the extraction. Now I'm hitting some 'error reading drive H' stuff. Probably going to have to work throug this one section at a time!

Yes.. Now that I think about it.. that was the difference between versions.. it would hang on a problem.. and not be able to proceed.. the newer version (I forget which one) would pause at the problem, and ask to skip or retry..before proceeding.. That routine broke because the file structure between dfd453 and dfd5 changed.. I know, Rick Mosgovitz and I worked with Jerry testing Extract...
