Dangerous dbf virus

Postby Phil Winkler » Wed Apr 02, 2014 3:17 pm

A client of ours out in Missouri emailed that they couldn't run any of their 4.53 reports. They would get the dialogue box saying a memory error had occurred, Exit, Close, Abort, etc.

I connected to have a look and noted every dbf file had exactly the same date/time stamp of 3/31/14 6:00PM

I type one of the dbf files to screen and it was all gibberish and large. I googled it and found this: http://malware.wikia.com/wiki/DBase

Folks, this is a very dangerous virus.

They should be able to restore their dbf files from a backup.

Anyone else ever seen this?

Fortunately, it ONLY kills the DBF files, so your fix works fine.
