Simultaneous record entry in two forms DFD

Postby NReiff » Tue Jun 09, 2015 12:44 am

Firstly, it is good to see this forum is back. It was sincerely missed.

I have a question of "possibility" within DFD.

I know it is possible to enter a record from a procedure query Ie, enter record in Form A.

I am wondering if it is possible to enter a record in Form B as a consequence entering a record in Form A.

Sorry, I inadvertently sent the topic without completing the issue . .

For instance,
form A has field -, field 1, Field 2, Field 3. . .
Form B has these same fields.

As of now, I am entering the info into Form A. Then repeating the same info into Form B.

Is there any way to do a simultaneous duplicate entry into two forms?

I appreciate any info and advice on this.

Again, as always, I am thankful for this forum!!!

You can use a procedure to enter a record in both Form A and Form B if that's what you want to do.

Also, you can use a procedure that will look to see if there are any "new" records in Form A and enter them in Form B.

Thank you Graham.
I am wanting to accomplish this via record entry as it gives me more control and the ability to look at table view -at least on the first instance. Is it possible to enter the record in Form A and simultaneously launch a procedure (from within the form) that would enter the record into Form B?

All the Best -Neil

You cannot directly enter a record in Form A and have it trigger a procedure in DfD unless you use Input Using, which has it's own set of issues.

What you can do is run a procedure after entering records that will find all "new" records and do something.

Why do you need the same data in two different places?
