How to 'Flatten' Excel Crosstab

Postby Adrian Jones » Tue Jun 12, 2012 8:21 am

A question for the Excel pros amongst you.

I have an Excel worksheet as source material, where the data is presented as a crosstab.

So, for example, across the top there is a header row for Size, and down the lefthand size a column with the Operation, and where the size intersects the operation is a value.

(It looks a bit like a pivot table, but actually is not.)

I need to turn this into something more CSV-like to import into Ff, such as:

Size,Operation,Value
15,Handle,0.25
20,Handle,0.75
15,Cut,1.1
20,Cut,2.2

This could also just be another worksheet; I just need a strategy I can use to create something I can import or paste into Ff.

Thanks!
