Who are Geneva Solutions?

Postby Paul Nelson » Tue Nov 13, 2012 10:17 am

I have just received an email from a company called Geneva Solutions offering to migrate any data from DataEase to Ffenics.

It may be good publicity for Ffenics but who are these people? What experience do they have? How have they got my email address?

If they are a legitimate outfit perhaps Database Software would confirm. If they are unknown to Database Software perhaps a statement on the Forum would be helpful.

Anyone else received an email or can shed any light on this?

I got one this morning too, but using an email address that hasnt been active for a long time, so I can only assume its from my old dataease developing days.

I unsubscribed.

No, it was a very old one, which is still forwarded to me, so I am sure it isnt forum based, and thinking back, that was definately the address I would have used in the dataease days. I hate mailing lists! but at least its easy to block :)

It still could have come from either dataease themselves or one of the forums or newsgroups in use at the time.

Didn't come from us, but I can't say whether the old forum got hacked or not. I think these guys are fishing using a clever algorithm: http://www.gs-sa.ch/

I got one too, and that was an old company email from a company that I worked for years ago. I didn't even know that it still forwarded mails to me.

Don't think DataEase would write: "If you are using outdated database tools such as DataEase our consultants will be able to migrate all of your data into Ffenics for you in days and have all your tools working in Windows."

If they are "that good", they must have used Ffenics for a while?

Geneva Solutions Limited, according to Companies House, is a currently non-trading entity wholly owned by Edward Francis Manser Paice, who is also the sole listed director. Looks like it was bought as a ready-made. Companies House indicates that it has working capital of £1.
Rather worryingly, it says on the website:

Our Beliefs: 2 + 2 = 5

No wonder some of my date calculations have gone a little crazy.

But isn't Edward Paice the same guy that is MD at Ffenics?

Am I stating the obvious now? Sorry! Just a little slow.
