DocumentOpen

Postby achimbelau » Fri Jun 12, 2009 11:44 am

A simple procedure: define "tDoc"Number. tDoc := DocumentOpen("DocumentName"). This works fine when editing the procedure and switch to user view. As soon as the procedure is called directly (by double click or from a control procedure), a blank screen is displayed and ffenics stucks (the PC must be restarted). The bottom line of the blank screen shows the correct form name, on the right side there is the message "Enter the name you will use to call the function. The fuction name is required ..." Same applies to OpenAspect. Any idea ??

No idea why that doesn't work. I will say that it is a needlessly complicated way to open a document from a procedure, use the command:

run document DocumentName .

DocumentName is the name of whatever you want to open and it can be used with or without quotes around it.

thanks, but with 'run document' I am encountering other problems. Let me explain the procedure: It is the sign-on procedure that is run as 'Startup Menu' for every appl. user (defined in System users). The files that are opend at the end are both 'user menus' with virtual fields only. The first is the appl. wellcome screen and the user has two buttons: continue (which closes the document) and Exit ( Application close, as Exit Ffenics does not work when opening the file with run document). 'Close document' returns to the procedure and opens the Users Startup Menu as assigned in the Appl. User File. The Action buttons (close Appl. / Close file) do not work at all. Opening another menu (from the startup menu) works once. Trying to return to the previous menu (Document close) does not work either. Finally Fenics GPF's.

The startup document cannot be closed until you exit the application. This is why it's failing.

Most commonly, the startup document is the "Main Menu" and is an aspect on a one record form.
