FREE Enlightening DataEase and Ffenics Newsletter

Postby Adrian Jones » Thu Mar 18, 2010 9:28 am

I'm just finishing my first -- FREE -- 'Enlightening DataEase and Ffenics Newsletter'.

I'll be sending this to subscribers next week.

if you'd like to sign up and receive DataEase and Ffenics tips and tricks for no charge, please visit my website at http://www.n10net.com and add your name and email in the box on the right-hand side of the page.

Thanks! Adrian

PS: For those of you who remember Dialogue, the DataEase magazine I edited in the late 1990s, the newsletter is similiar to the tips and tricks section that appeared at the back of each issue.

Hey, Adrian,

Does that page work only with IE? I went there with Firefox and see no place to enter such info.
Whazzup?

Hi Phil,

No, it works here with IE, FF, even Safari on my iphone.

You definitely don't see a grey panel at the right of the page?

Could the page be cached?

If not, I'll try positioning it on the LH side.

Thanks for pointing this out!

Nope. I see Contact Me offset to the right side, but that's all.

Now I am beginning to wonder whether some us have different diaries: my diary shows Wednesday is 24th. Does working with DfdD/DfW/Ff mean we have to convert to a different calendar??

Posted on UK date: Wed 24th March ... and received my Newsletter yesterday - good stuff Adrian! Thanks.

Now, you're right! I meant to send it out today, but selected the wrong date on the mailing service and got confused!

Anyway, glad you like it!

Anyone else who's interested, please sign up my at my website http://www.n10net.com, and complete the newsletter box at the right hand side.

I think I have managed to set this up so that 'late arrivals' can also get the current newsletter.

Topics include:

    * indices (and a DQL to rebuild all -- esp for dfW 6.x, but could be adapted for selective reorgs in any version)
    * Why sometimes an asterisk wildcard in your data-entry form/interactive header might return NO records, rather than all
    * How to get data from disparate parts of your app onto a one-page summary printout

Adrian,

Did you sign me up anyway? I still can't see the registration part of your web site. Maybe I'll try it with IE and see if there is a difference.

Edit: Ok, it worked with IE. I have no idea why it doesn't appear in Mozilla unless the add-on Popup blocker gets it.

Pretty cute process, too. You have to love automation.

Pop-up should get it because it doesn't pop up! (Although that is an option; maybe there's still some pop-up code in there to confuse).

Anyway, thanks for signing up!

The process is all handled by the sub company. Local-ish to you, btw (PA). And not expense!
